Lowman man arrested on grand larceny charge in Chemung County

ELMIRA — A 36-year-old Lowman man has been arrested on charges of grand larceny in the third degree, a Class D felony, according to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office.

John C. Bowman was arrested following an investigation that began May 7 when the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office in Pennsylvania contacted Chemung County authorities about a possible stolen fuel card from Moore Trucking that had been used in Chemung County.

The investigation determined that Bowman, who had worked for Moore Trucking, used the company fuel card to make numerous personal fuel purchases from July 2020 through May at multiple locations throughout Chemung County.

The fraudulent purchases totaled $15,778, according to authorities.

Bowman was arraigned in the Town of Horseheads Court and released.

He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Big Flats Court at a later date.
