Albany police investigate early morning shooting on Sherman Street

ALBANY — Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred early Sunday morning on Sherman Street near Lexington Avenue.

On July 13 around 5:30 a.m., officers responded to Sherman Street near Lexington Avenue for reports of an individual with a gunshot wound.

Upon arrival, officers located a 30-year-old female inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound to her torso.

The victim was treated on scene by emergency medical personnel and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Further investigation determined that the victim was shot on the 100 block of Sherman Street while sitting inside a vehicle.

The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Albany Police Detective Division at (518) 462-8039.
