FAIR HAVEN — A stolen pickup truck collided with a Fair Haven police cruiser during a pursuit on the US Route 4 Exit 2 westbound on-ramp Saturday morning.

The crash occurred at approximately 8:20 a.m. when the driver of a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado lost control while turning onto the ramp during an active police chase.

Officer Thomas Covino, 56, of Pawlet was operating a 2017 Ford Explorer patrol vehicle when the collision occurred.

Vermont State Police troopers from the Rutland Field Station responded to the scene.

The incident remains under active investigation by Vermont State Police.
