SOUTH WINDSOR — Police arrested Eliu Claudio, 44, of Hartford on Thursday at 11:48 a.m. on an active arrest warrant stemming from an April incident.
The charges include reckless driving, evading responsibility, failure to drive right, violation of a traffic control signal, failure to obey a stop sign, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, interfering with an officer/resisting, drinking while driving and two counts of reckless endangerment in the second degree.
Police said an officer found a vehicle in the middle of Miller Road near its intersection with Abbe Road with the driver passed out in the driver’s seat and an open beer can in the center cup holder.
Officers noticed a firearm with an extended magazine on the front seat of the vehicle.
Police said Claudio is a convicted felon and cannot legally possess a firearm.
Claudio sped off and was observed traveling southbound on Nevers Road, violating the stop sign at Nevers Road and Sand Hill Road before crashing into the entry gate on the west side of the Police Department, according to police.
Claudio put his vehicle in reverse and fled the scene, refusing to stop for officers as he sped down Sand Hill Road toward Sullivan Avenue, police said.
Claudio turned himself in at police headquarters and was processed and released on a $50,000 surety bond.
He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Wednesday, July 30, at 9 a.m.
In a separate case, police arrested Ivonne Davila, 40, of Hartford on Thursday at 1 p.m. on an active failure to appear arrest warrant.
Davila turned herself in at headquarters and was processed and released on a $1,500 surety bond.
She is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Wednesday, July 30, at 9 a.m.
