NORWICH — New York State Police arrested a Sherburne man on felony arson and criminal mischief charges in connection with a vehicle fire.
Delbert F. Dewey, 43, was arrested July 6 and charged with third-degree arson, a class C felony, and second-degree criminal mischief, a class D felony.
Troopers responded to a report of a vehicle fire in a driveway on Classic Street in Sherburne shortly after 11 p.m. July 5.
Officers arrived to find a fully engulfed vehicle and a large crowd at the scene.
An investigation revealed that Dewey intentionally started a fire inside the vehicle after having a disagreement earlier in the day with residents living on Classic Street, police said.
Dewey was processed at State Police Norwich and arraigned at Centralized Arraignment.
He was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $15,000 cash bail, $30,000 bond or $75,000 partial secured bond at 10%.
