EAST FISHKILL — A Bronx man was arrested Wednesday after New York State Police found more than 1,000 grams of fentanyl during a traffic stop on the Taconic State Parkway.
Carmelo Arroyo Miranda, 36, was pulled over at approximately 3:15 p.m. July 9 while driving northbound in a Toyota Camry for multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
State Police deployed narcotics detection K-9 Vinn to conduct an exterior scan of the vehicle.
The dog alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics inside the vehicle.
A subsequent probable cause search resulted in the discovery of a rectangular, compressed package containing approximately 1,095.8 grams of fentanyl.
Police also recovered a pill bottle containing numerous glassine envelopes filled with a gray powdery substance consistent with narcotics.
The traffic stop was conducted by members of the New York State Police Troop K Community Stabilization Unit.
Miranda was arraigned in the Town of East Fishkill Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail.
