ELMIRA — A 49-year-old Elmira man was arrested for burglary after deputies found him leaving a former inn in the Town of Chemung.
Richard Brennan was charged with burglary in the third degree, a class D felony, according to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a possible burglary in progress at the former O’Brien’s Inn on County Route 60 on July 9.
Upon arrival, deputies located Brennan leaving the scene.
Brennan admitted to having been inside the building and stealing items from inside during an interview with deputies.
The Criminal Investigation Division was contacted and Brennan was taken into custody.
Brennan was arraigned on the charge in the Town of Chemung Court.
He was released on his own recognizance and scheduled to reappear in court at a later date.
