Somerville police report multiple arrests, assaults in early July

SOMERVILLE — Somerville Police responded to a business on Broadway for a breaking and entering report at approximately 12:01 a.m. July 8.

Officers spoke with a clerk who said he received alarms indicating the front door was open.

Surveillance footage showed a male inside the business stealing various items.

Officers received a suspect description and located a male nearby matching the description.

He was placed under arrest.

Police responded to a business on Broadway for a shoplifting report at approximately 7:54 p.m. July 4.

Officers spoke with a security officer who said a male was shoplifting and when confronted, the suspect pushed him and fled.

At approximately 2:54 p.m. July 5, police responded to a business on Somerville Avenue for an assault report.

Officers spoke with a victim who said she got into a verbal altercation with a female.

During the altercation, the female struck the victim with her shoe.

Police responded to a residence on Charlestown Street for an attempted breaking and entering at approximately 9:44 p.m. July 7.

Officers spoke with a victim who said a male began pulling on a window screen and tried to break into the residence.

At approximately 8:07 a.m. July 2, police responded to a residence on Aberdeen Street for a past breaking and entering.

Officers spoke with a victim who said his bike was stolen from his shed.

Police responded to Summer Street for a past assault report at approximately 2:37 p.m. July 5.

Officers spoke with a victim who said he was approached by a male who began yelling at him then struck him in the neck.

At approximately 10:38 a.m. July 2, police responded to Statue Park for a fight report.

Officers spoke with a victim who said he got into an altercation with a male who struck him and threw him to the ground.

Another male tried to intervene and the suspect began fighting him as well.

Officers located the suspect and he was placed under arrest.

Police responded to Seven Hills Park for a dispute at approximately 6:07 p.m. July 2.

Officers spoke with a victim who said he was using a porta-potty when a male began banging on the door threatening to kill him then brandished a knife.

Officers located the male and he was placed under arrest.

Police also reported three bike thefts, one car break-in, two motor vehicle vandalisms and two vandalisms during the period.
