FINE — Members of the New York State Police arrested Crystal E. Newtown, 42, of Newton Falls, N.Y., on July 8 for grand larceny in the fourth degree involving a credit card, as well as petit larceny.
On July 2 at approximately 1:26 p.m., troopers responded to a larceny complaint on Elm Street in the town of Fine.
The investigation revealed that Newtown had been hired by the victim as a home care aide.
The victim had provided Newtown with specific tasks to complete and had given her a credit card to purchase necessary items.
At no point was Newtown permitted to use the credit card to withdraw cash from an ATM or to purchase items not included on the list.
During her employment, Newtown unlawfully took money from the ATM and used the credit card for unauthorized purchases.
Newtown was arrested and transported to SP Star Lake for processing.
She was subsequently released on appearance tickets, which require her to return to the Town of Fine Court for a hearing scheduled for September.
