PORTLAND — Portland Police have arrested a 42-year-old man in connection with a stabbing that occurred June 28 on Preble Street.
Police responded to 38 Preble Street at 8:02 p.m. for a report of a stabbing.
Officers discovered a 21-year-old male suffering from a stab wound to his neck.
The victim was transported to Maine Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Witnesses told police there was an altercation that led to the stabbing before the suspect fled the area.
Police were unable to immediately locate the suspect.
Video from the incident was posted to the department’s Facebook page July 7, leading to several tips identifying the suspect.
Hector Roman of Portland was taken into custody July 8 after attempting to flee on foot from officers.
Roman was charged with elevated aggravated assault and aggravated assault.
He was transported to the Cumberland County Jail.
