Milford police arrest Arizona shooting suspect in traffic stop

MILFORD — The Milford Police Department arrested a Rhode Island man wanted in connection with an Arizona road rage shooting on Tuesday morning.

Giovanni Cardona, 44, of Woonsocket, R.I., was taken into custody at 11:27 a.m. near the intersection of East Main and Cedar streets.

Cardona is wanted by the Pima County Sheriff’s Office in Arizona for allegedly shooting a victim three times during a road rage incident before fleeing the scene.

Milford police received an informational bulletin from Medway Police Detectives at approximately 11:04 a.m. alerting surrounding agencies about Cardona.

Medway detectives reported that Cardona was operating a white Toyota Camry with Massachusetts livery plates.

Milford Police Detectives spotted the suspect vehicle traveling inbound on East Main Street at 11:24 a.m., just 20 minutes after receiving the alert.

Officers initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of East Main and Cedar streets.

Cardona was charged with aggravated assault with firearm on a warrant and fugitive from justice.
