BOSTON — Boston police have arrested a 21-year-old Methuen man in connection with an armed robbery at a Roxbury convenience store last month.
Anthony Echavarria-Ramirez was taken into custody July 8 at approximately 9:22 a.m. at an apartment on Bloomfield Street in Dorchester by officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force and Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit.
The arrest stems from an armed robbery that occurred June 26 at approximately 10:52 p.m. at Cristian Convenience Store at 411 Blue Hill Avenue in Roxbury.
Police said two suspects entered the store, with the first brandishing a black firearm at a store employee while going behind the counter.
The second suspect jumped over the counter and removed cash from the register, also stealing the victim’s wallet and cellphone, according to police.
Both suspects fled on foot down Devon Street toward Warren Street.
Police described the first suspect as a light-skinned Black male with a thin build, wearing a black mask, black bubble jacket, black pants with tears, and white sneakers.
The second suspect was described as a light-skinned Black male with a thin build, wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants, and white sneakers with red trim.
Investigators identified Echavarria-Ramirez as the first suspect through traditional investigative methods and electronic technology.
Police also linked Echavarria-Ramirez and the second suspect to a separate armed robbery earlier the same day involving a food delivery driver near 75 Humboldt Avenue, where the suspects allegedly stole the victim’s moped scooter at gunpoint.
Echavarria-Ramirez faces charges including two counts of masked armed robbery, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a firearm without a license, two counts of intimidation of a witness/juror/police/court official, and two counts of armed kidnapping with a firearm.
He is scheduled to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
