EAST HAVEN — An arrest has been made in connection with a serious injury hit-and-run investigation involving a pedestrian that occurred on April 8 at the intersection of Mill Street and Foxon Road.

At approximately 6:02 p.m. on April 8, East Haven Police and Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the area of Mill Street and Foxon Road (Route 80) for a report of a pedestrian struck.

The victim, identified as 21-year-old Dhirendra Pun, sustained serious injuries.

He was treated on scene by the East Haven Fire Department and transported to Yale New Haven Hospital for further treatment.

The vehicle involved, later identified as a Honda HR-V, fled the scene westbound on Foxon Road at a high rate of speed.

Surveillance video later determined that Pun was crossing Foxon Road from the eastbound to the westbound side when he was struck and that the operator made a series of evasive maneuvers to get around traffic immediately following the crash.

Following an investigation led by Detective Jon Trinh, Alexandra Lopez, D.O.B. 08/03/1996, of Oregon Avenue, East Haven, was identified as the driver.

Lopez turned herself in after an arrest warrant was issued.

She was charged with evading responsibility (serious injury) and operating a motor vehicle without a license.

Lopez was held on a $50,000 bond and appeared in New Haven Superior Court, G.A. 23, on July 7.
