SCHODACK — State Police arrested George Lovely, 38, of Rensselaer on June 23 on charges including identity theft in the first degree, forgery in the second degree, grand larceny in the third degree, falsifying business records in the first degree and money laundering in the fourth degree.
The investigation began Oct. 20, 2024, at about 7:03 p.m. when troopers received a complaint from a Rensselaer County resident that a person known to them had taken a loan out in their name without their knowledge or permission.
The investigation determined that Lovely allegedly used the victim’s identifying information without their permission and forged and falsified business records to apply for a bank loan in the victim’s name without their knowledge.
The loan was granted in February 2024 for more than $3,000.
Lovely then allegedly removed the loaned money from the victim’s account by multiple means resulting in the theft of more than $3,000.
Lovely surrendered himself to State Police in Schodack where he was arrested and processed.
He was arraigned at Schodack Town Court where he was released under the supervision of the Rensselaer County Probation Department.
