CORINTH — A 44-year-old Mechanicville man was arrested Thursday evening after allegedly leading police on a brief chase that ended when his vehicle struck a fence.
Scott D. Retell faces multiple charges including two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, tampering with physical evidence, obstructing governmental administration in the 2nd degree, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the 3rd degree, resisting arrest, reckless driving and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the 3rd degree.
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop Retell’s vehicle at 8:18 p.m. on Main Street for having switched plates.
The pursuit ended when Retell’s car struck a fence behind a residence on Walnut Street.
After a short foot pursuit, Retell was apprehended behind a residence on Center Street.
Retell is accused of knowingly and unlawfully possessing a narcotic drug with intent to sell it and knowingly and unlawfully possessing a narcotic drug having an aggregate weight of one-half ounce or more.
He is also accused of intentionally attempting to conceal evidence that he believed was about to be produced in an official proceeding against him.
Retell was arraigned before Judge Lane Schermerhorn in Corinth Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail pending further proceedings.
