Cohoes man arrested on weapons charges during traffic stop

COHOES — Officers arrested Robert T. Epps, 27, of Albany, on weapons charges during a traffic stop at Remsen Street and Cayuga Street at approximately 1:45 a.m. Friday.

During the traffic stop, officers located a loaded Glock 17 semiautomatic handgun, two magazines containing 18 rounds of 9mm ammunition, a switch blade and 9.87 ounces of marijuana, according to the Cohoes Police Department.

Epps was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Cohoes Police Department for processing.

Epps was charged with criminal use of a firearm in the 2nd degree, criminal possession of a loaded firearm in the 2nd degree, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree, criminal possession of a weapon firearm/knife, unlawful possession of cannabis, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the 3rd degree and other vehicle and traffic law infractions.

He was arraigned in Cohoes City Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility on $25,000 cash bail, $50,000 bail bond, $100,000 partially secured bond.

A preliminary hearing is set for July 8 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cohoes City Court.
