HOLYOKE — Holyoke police arrested a suspect and seized firearm accessories Sunday after responding to a report of an armed intoxicated individual.

Officers responded around 7:20 p.m. to an apartment at 1159 Dwight Street for a report of an intoxicated individual armed with a gun, Police Chief Brian Keenan announced.

Officers attempted to contact the subject, but he was not inside his apartment.

A few minutes later, Captain Charles Monfett observed a subject matching the description of the suspect outside.

Officer Xavier DeJesus and Officer Craig Zolendziewski approached the subject, later identified as Ryan Desjardins.

Desjardins resisted and struck an officer while he was being secured.

A Taser was deployed and after a drive-stun, Desjardins was placed into custody.

Desjardins had three outstanding warrants from Holyoke District Court, Northampton District Court and Brockton District Court.

Officers located two rounds of loose ammunition in his pocket.

Holyoke police detectives applied for and obtained a search warrant for Desjardins’ apartment.

Inside they recovered a firearm slide, four rounds of ammunition and a firearm frame with a grip.

Officers later recovered a firearm magazine that is alleged to have belonged to Desjardins.

The magazine was capable of holding 21 rounds of ammunition.

The 38-year-old Holyoke man is charged with carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a firearm without an FID card, possession of a large capacity feeding device, possession of ammunition without an FID card, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, assault and battery on a police officer and three arrest warrants.
