WEST YARMOUTH — A driver died Thursday morning after crashing into a tree on Willow Street, police said.
Yarmouth Police received a 911 call shortly after 5:30 a.m. reporting a single-car crash with airbag deployment in the area of Eversource.
Officers found a heavily damaged Kia Sportage on the northbound shoulder.
Initial indications show the vehicle was traveling south at high speed on Willow Street before the crash, police said.
The single occupant was pronounced dead at the scene.
A portion of Willow Street was closed for about three hours while investigators processed the crash scene.
The family of the deceased has been notified.
Yarmouth Police and the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Unit are investigating.
