Mail theft investigation in Morristown leads to arrest

MORRISTOWN — The Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department opened a mail theft investigation June 2 in conjunction with the Morristown Police Department and the United States Postal Service.

The investigation has resulted in the recovery of innumerable pieces of opened and unopened mail.

The mail, which included thousands of dollars’ worth of checks, have been returned to their rightful owners with the assistance of the United States Postal Service.

Investigators have arrested Audrey Roessler, 21, of Lyndon.

Roessler was cited to appear in Lamoille County Court on July 23.

She was also cited to appear in Franklin County Court on Aug. 12 to answer to the state charges of fraud and larceny.
