3 arrested after police find drugs, gun in Stamford vehicle

STAMFORD — Three people, including a juvenile, were arrested after police discovered drugs and a loaded firearm during a vehicle stop in Southwood Square at approximately 3 p.m. Monday.

Narcotics and Organized Crime Detectives observed suspicious activity involving a juvenile male and two individuals identified as Zyaire Corey, 23, and Janiya Gill, 19, according to police.

When officers attempted to initiate a vehicle stop, the driver tried to flee, striking an unmarked police vehicle in the process.

K9 units and patrol officers assisted in safely detaining all occupants of the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded .38 Special revolver, 89.5 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, $730 in cash, 33 folds of fentanyl, and 8.6 grams of crack cocaine, police said.

The juvenile was charged with multiple firearm and narcotics offenses and remanded to juvenile detention.

Corey was charged with narcotics offenses and interfering with police.

Gill, who was allegedly driving the vehicle, was charged with reckless driving, failure to stop for officers, and interfering.

All three suspects were processed without incident.
