BROCKPORT — Brockport police officers and multiple law enforcement agencies conducted an early morning operation Wednesday after a vehicle linked to a Rochester shooting was located in the village.

At approximately 2:15 a.m. on April 30, Brockport Police officers identified a suspect vehicle reportedly involved in a shooting incident in Rochester.

Officers located the unoccupied vehicle in a rear parking lot at a residence and immediately established a perimeter with assistance from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and State University at Brockport Police.

During the operation, several individuals left the target location in two vehicles.

These vehicles were stopped, and the occupants were detained and transported to the Rochester Public Safety Building.

Authorities closed North Main Street and issued a Hyper-Reach alert to nearby homes and businesses, advising residents to avoid the area as a safety precaution.

The perimeter was maintained until Rochester Police SWAT Team members, uniformed TAC unit personnel, and Major Crimes investigators arrived on scene.

Rochester Police then took control of the investigation and detained occupants from the target apartment, who were subsequently transported to the Rochester Police Department.

According to Brockport Police Chief Paul G. Wheat, the safety risk to the community was minimized because the residence was located in a primarily business district that was not open during the early morning hours.

The Brockport Police Department acknowledged assistance from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Rochester Police Department, SUNY Brockport Police, and the Ogden Police Department during the operation.
