SHEFFIELD — A 35-year-old man is facing numerous charges following an incident in Sheffield.

Authorities say they were notified of an assault involving Jeffrey Mitchell and another party on Route 122 back on March 26.

While en route to the call, police observed a vehicle off the side of the road that was heavily damaged.

According to the report, Mitchell was operating the vehicle and had fled the scene of the assault in the vehicle which was not his.

Police say he caused damage to another vehicle’s windshield at the residence before driving away.

Mitchell crashed the vehicle into a guardrail and continued traveling before crashing again off the road on Route 122.

He then fled the scene of the accident.

He was later located and cited to appear in court for the charges of aggravated operation without owner’s consent, leaving the scene of an accident, negligent operation, and unlawful mischief.
