NEW HARTFORD, NY — A 54-year-old man was arrested following a multi-week investigation into repeated violations of an order of protection.

Stacey Snell, of New Hartford, was taken into custody July 11 in Utica by officers with the Utica Police Department Patrol Division.

The arrest came after New Hartford police obtained warrants charging Snell with multiple counts of criminal contempt.

Police responded to incidents between June 17 and June 28 in which Snell allegedly contacted a protected party by telephone and voicemail despite a valid Oneida County Family Court Order of Protection prohibiting all contact.

Investigators with the New Hartford Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force searched for Snell after his whereabouts became unknown.

Snell was charged with four counts of criminal contempt in the first degree, all felonies, and one count of criminal contempt in the second degree, a misdemeanor.

He was processed at the New Hartford Police Department and taken to the Oneida County Jail pending arraignment.
