Man arrested after fight with officer in Bath

BATH, NY — A traffic stop on West Morris Street led to a physical altercation and the arrest of a Cameron man on June 27.

An officer with the Village of Bath Police Department observed a vehicle violating multiple sections of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law at about 4:24 p.m.

The operator refused to identify himself and refused to follow lawful commands to exit the vehicle.

When the officer advised the man he was going to be detained, he began fighting with the officer and rolled the officer’s arm up inside the window.

An officer deployed a taser.

With the arrival of other officers, the man was taken into custody.

He was identified as Cody J. Blanchard, of Cameron.

Blanchard was processed and released on an appearance ticket returnable to Bath Village Court at a later date.

He is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor; obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor; resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor; and other New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
