Man arrested on firearm charge in Dorchester

DORCHESTER, MA — Officers arrested a man early Saturday after a traffic stop led to the recovery of a loaded firearm and drugs.

At about 4:04 a.m., officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) stopped a moped in the area of 996 Blue Hill Avenue.

Officers observed the operator was not wearing a helmet, the moped was not registered, and its lights were not illuminated.

The suspect abandoned the moped and fled on foot while clutching his waistband.

Officers pursued and detained him.

A frisk revealed a Glock 44 .22 caliber firearm loaded with 10 rounds of live ammunition inside his pant leg.

While towing the moped, officers found five small plastic bags containing a substance believed to be crack cocaine and two small plastic bags containing a substance believed to be fentanyl.

Keylin Hall, 33, of Dorchester, is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges including carrying a loaded firearm without a license fourth offense, carrying a firearm without a license fourth offense, firearm violation with two prior violent or drug crimes, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession with intent to distribute Class B drugs, distribution of Class A drugs, and resisting arrest.

Hall also received a Massachusetts Uniform Citation for motor vehicle violations.
