HARTFORD, CT — Detectives with the Greater Hartford Regional Auto Theft Task Force arrested a man on stolen vehicle charges June 24.
Task force members observed a stolen 2017 Hyundai Elantra traveling north on Broad Street during proactive patrol.
Detectives followed the vehicle until it parked in the area of 94 Russ Street.
Officers converged on the vehicle and took the occupant into custody without incident.
Jaye Leupold, 40, of New Britain, was interviewed and later transported to the Hartford Police Detention Facility.
Leupold faces charges of theft of a motor vehicle, second-degree larceny, use of a motor vehicle without the owner’s permission, and first- and second-degree criminal trover.
The Hyundai Elantra was reported stolen from Hartford and was recovered.
