ST. JOHNSBURY, VT — A man was accused of attempting to break into a vehicle in St. Johnsbury.

On July 7 at approximately 12:59 a.m., officers with the St. Johnsbury Police Department responded to 43 Spring Street for a report of a male attempting to gain entry into a vehicle on the property.

Officers spoke with the homeowners, who said a male wearing a sports jersey had attempted to break into their vehicle.

Officers reviewed video footage provided by the homeowners and identified the male as Misbah Abdul-Kareem from prior law enforcement interactions.

Officers observed visible scratch marks on the vehicle, which appeared consistent with the male using a stick while attempting to gain entry.

Abdul-Kareem had previously been issued a trespass notice prohibiting him from being at 43 Spring Street.

Officers later located Abdul-Kareem at Arnold Park in St. Johnsbury, where he was taken into custody and transported to the St. Johnsbury Police Department for processing.

Abdul-Kareem, 41, of St. Johnsbury, was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia County Court to answer to charges of unlawful trespass, attempted unlawful trespass into a motor vehicle, and unlawful mischief.
