TONAWANDA, NY — The Town of Tonawanda Police Department is alerting the public to a recent increase in thefts from vehicles used for professional services, such as landscaping and lawn cutting.
These vehicles are often left unsecured and accessible while parked at job sites.
Open and unattended vehicles are particularly vulnerable to thieves seeking cash, bags, and valuable personal items.
Although work vehicles are being targeted, thefts have not been limited solely to those types of vehicles.
Police urge residents to keep vehicles locked at all times.
Never leave keys or valuables in an unattended vehicle, and always keep bags or personal items out of sight.
