Man charged with robbery in Auburn

AUBURN, NY — A man was charged with robbery after a domestic incident early Monday.

Officers responded to a home around 12:56 a.m. for a reported domestic incident with injuries.

The victim told police that Christopher Barnwell forcefully took a cell phone and struck them in the head.

The victim was taken to Auburn Community Hospital for treatment.

Officers located Barnwell in Auburn and took him into custody without incident.

Barnwell, 26, of Auburn, was charged with third-degree robbery, a felony; aggravated family offense, a felony; and attempted third-degree assault, a misdemeanor.

He was taken to Cayuga County Jail and held pending arraignment.
