SOMERSET, PA — A Stoystown man was arrested Monday after fleeing from deputies in Wilbur Borough last month.
Robert Rigo Jr., 46, of Stoystown, was taken into custody at the Berlin Manor apartment complex in Berlin Borough.
Deputies initially responded June 16 to a residence in Wilbur Borough to serve a warrant for Joshua Sarver.
Sarver told deputies that Rigo had been at the residence hours earlier and admitted to drug use with him.
Rigo arrived at the residence on an ATV while deputies were present.
Deputies ordered Rigo to dismount the ATV, but he refused multiple commands and fled at dangerous speeds down a public road.
An arrest warrant was issued for Rigo.
On Monday, deputies received tips that Rigo was staying at Berlin Manor.
Deputies located Rigo and found a loaded 9mm Ruger handgun, a concealed knife, drugs and drug paraphernalia in his possession.
Rigo’s criminal history prohibits him from possessing firearms.
Deputies observed an obliterated and altered serial number on the handgun.
Rigo was charged with resisting arrest, person not to possess firearms and possession of a firearm with an altered manufacturer’s number.
He was arraigned Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Bell.
Rigo is being held at the Somerset County Jail on $2,000 secured bond and $25,000 unsecured bond.
The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office credited community tips for the arrest.
