Shooting investigation underway in Utica

UTICA, NY — Police are investigating a shooting that left one person injured early Wednesday morning.

Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Clinton Place at approximately 12:30 a.m. on June 30 regarding a ShotSpotter alert of multiple shots fired.

Police located five spent casings at the scene.

While conducting the investigation, officers were notified that a person had walked into Wynn Hospital with gunshot wounds to both arms.

The victim told police that an individual on the block had fired multiple rounds, striking him twice.

The injuries are not life-threatening.

The Utica Police Department Major Crimes Unit has been assigned to the investigation.
