MIDDLEBURGH, NY — A man wanted on a bench warrant was arrested after fleeing from deputies and later being found at another residence where he was allegedly violating an order of protection.
Deputies from the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Village of Middleburgh at approximately 4:30 p.m. on June 29, 2026, to locate Garrett Kiser, who was wanted on an active Schoharie County Supreme Court bench warrant.
While attempting to locate Kiser at a residence, deputies observed him flee through a window and escape on foot.
Following further investigation, deputies later located Kiser at another residence in the Village of Middleburgh.
The investigation determined that Kiser was present at the residence in violation of a full stay-away order of protection.
Kiser, 31, of Middleburgh, was charged with criminal contempt in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor, and resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor.
He was issued appearance tickets directing him to appear in Middleburgh Town Court on July 14, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. to answer the new charges.
Kiser was then transported to the Schoharie County Correctional Facility, where he was remanded on the outstanding Schoharie County Supreme Court bench warrant.
