ETNA, ME — A police dog helped locate a missing 75-year-old woman in a wooded area Saturday morning.

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of the missing woman at approximately 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

The woman had left her residence and her whereabouts were unknown, according to a sheriff’s office media release.

She had been experiencing recent medical issues and confusion.

Multiple deputies responded, including K9 Memphis and his handler.

K9 Memphis tracked the woman and located her in a dense, wooded area that would have been extremely difficult to search by foot, helicopter or drone.

Etna Fire personnel and the woman’s family safely removed her from the location.

She was transported for a medical evaluation.

The Maine Warden Service and the Etna Fire Department assisted at the scene.
