KINGSTON, NY — The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested Andrew C. Wells, 42, of Rosendale on June 19, 2026, and charged him with grand larceny in the second degree, a Class C felony.
The charge involves property valued at more than $50,000.
The investigation began in late April 2026 after the board of the Ulster County Sheriff’s Employee Association discovered suspicious activity involving the organization’s bank account.
The matter was referred to the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Kingston for investigation.
Investigators determined that Wells, who served as the union treasurer, had stolen approximately $99,418.23 from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Employee Association business account for personal use between February 2023 and April 2026.
Wells voluntarily reported to State Police Kingston on June 19, 2026, where he was arrested and processed without incident.
He was transported to the Kingston City Court Centralized Arraignment Part for arraignment and was released on his own recognizance.
Wells is scheduled to appear in the City of Kingston Court on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.
