BELLONA, NY — A homeowner extinguished a fire at their residence before emergency responders arrived on June 21.
Yates County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 159 Bills Road at approximately 4:50 p.m. alongside mutual aid and first responders for a structure fire.
Deputies were informed the homeowner had been burning off weeds prior to the fire.
The homeowner was able to put out the fire before emergency response teams arrived.
Damage to the home was contained to the northwest corner exterior.
Bellona Fire Department, Benton Fire Department, Himrod Fire Department and Penn Yan Ambulance responded to the scene.
Deputy S. Walker investigated the incident.
