Woman arrested on shoplifting, assault charges in Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, NJ — A 22-year-old woman surrendered to police June 17, 2026, in connection with a shoplifting incident that occurred at a local business on Princeton Avenue.

Jayonna Doyle, of Toms River, was charged with shoplifting and assault by auto following an investigation into an incident that occurred May 31, 2026.

Police determined that Doyle allegedly stole merchandise from the store before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

During the incident, a store employee attempting to document the suspect’s vehicle was forced to move out of the way as the vehicle was driven toward him while leaving the area.

Officers identified Doyle as the suspect through investigative efforts.

Doyle surrendered herself at Lakewood Police Headquarters, where she was taken into custody and processed.

She was later transported to the Ocean County Jail pending court proceedings.
