NORFOLK, NY — New York State Police arrested a 23-year-old man on June 16, 2026, and charged him with Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Disseminating Indecent Material to a Minor in the First Degree.
Carter M. Pooler, of Adams Center, was taken into custody following an investigation that began Aug. 11, 2025, when State Police received a report of a possible sextortion incident involving a juvenile victim in the Town of Norfolk.
An investigation determined that a 13-year-old female had been communicating through a social media platform with an individual she believed to be a 13-year-old male.
During the course of their communications, the individual requested and obtained inappropriate images from the victim.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect was actually Pooler, who allegedly threatened to distribute the images if the victim did not comply with his demands.
Pooler was processed at SP Massena.
