Man arrested on drug, child endangerment charges in Davenport

DAVENPORT, NY — A 32-year-old man was arrested June 7 after sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle being driven without lights in the dark.

Delaware County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop in the Davenport area and identified the driver as a 16-year-old operating with a permit.

The passenger was identified as Skyler Smith, 32, of Davenport.

Deputies determined Smith, who is on probation, was intoxicated and in possession of an open container and narcotics, according to Sheriff Craig S. DuMond.

Delaware County Probation responded to the scene to assist deputies.

Smith was arrested on charges of endangering the welfare of a child and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both class A misdemeanors.

He was also issued traffic summonses for consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, unsafe tire, dirty or covered license plate, no turn signal, no tail lamps and no plate lamps.

Smith was transported to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, processed and released on appearance tickets.
