PLAISTOW, NH — More than 30 traffic stops of commercial vehicles resulted in the discovery of nearly 150 violations during a joint enforcement initiative conducted by the New Hampshire State Police and the Plaistow Police Department.

On Friday, June 12, state troopers assigned to the Motor Carrier Enforcement Unit within Troop G partnered with Plaistow officers as part of an ongoing enforcement effort to address concerns expressed by Plaistow residents related to the unsafe operation of commercial vehicles in the town.

Members of both agencies worked together on an enhanced enforcement patrol to deter and detect excessive speed, violations of weight restrictions, driving on restricted roads and other unsafe behaviors by commercial drivers.

During the initiative, dozens of vehicles were stopped, including 31 commercial vehicles.

During inspections of the commercial vehicles, 146 violations were discovered.

The inspections resulted in five drivers and seven vehicles being placed out of service and removed from the road for critical safety violations or improper driver credentialing.

Multiple summonses and warnings were issued for issues ranging from speeding to drivers operating in violation of federal out-of-service orders.

A previous joint enforcement initiative conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 13, resulted in the discovery of 106 violations on commercial vehicles.

Troopers and members of the Plaistow Police Department will continue to collaboratively address the community’s concerns with additional joint patrols.
