Head-on crash injures 2 in Bourne

BOURNE, MA — Two people were injured in a head-on collision on Sandwich Road on Wednesday morning.

Bourne Police Dispatch began receiving multiple 9-1-1 calls at 7:33 a.m. reporting a motor vehicle crash with injuries.

The Bourne Police Department, Bourne Fire Department and Massachusetts State Police responded to the scene.

Responders discovered the crash involved a red 2004 Jeep operated by a 35-year-old man from North Carolina and a white 2023 Toyota pickup truck operated by a 43-year-old man from Pocasset.

The two vehicles collided head-on in the westbound travel lane.

The operator of the pickup truck was transported by Boston MedFlight to an area hospital.

The operator of the Jeep was transported to an area hospital by ambulance.

Due to the severity of the injuries, the Cape Cod Law Enforcement Council’s Crash Reconstruction team responded to investigate the crash.

The cause remains under investigation.

Sandwich Road was closed from 7:33 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. while the operators were treated, the crash was investigated and the vehicles were removed.
