HAZLE TOWNSHIP, PA — A man was taken into custody during the execution of a search warrant at his residence on Emerald Court.
Cristian Perez Abreu, 27, of Pennsylvania, was arrested at approximately 6:01 a.m. May 22, 2026, by members of the Hazleton Police Department Special Response Team.
The search warrant was the result of a two-month investigation conducted by the HPD Narcotics Unit as part of the Luzerne County Drug Task Force, supported by the Drug Enforcement Agency and the West Hazleton Police Department.
During the investigation, HPD Narcotics Detectives identified Adrian Valerio as a co-conspirator to Perez Abreu’s alleged illegal narcotics distribution.
Detectives conducted several surveillance details and controlled purchases of fentanyl from Perez Abreu’s residence.
The search warrant was approved by the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office and signed by a magistrate.
During the search, approximately 8,850 glassine packets of fentanyl, 87 grams of methamphetamine, 72 grams of cocaine and $11,909 in U.S. currency were seized as evidence.
Perez Abreu was charged with three felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
He was arraigned by the on-duty magistrate and given $50,000 cash bail.
Perez Abreu was transported to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility pending a preliminary hearing.
HPD Detectives are attempting to locate Valerio on a felony arrest warrant for four counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
