PRINCETON, MA — A residence on Mirick Road caught fire late Thursday night after an open 911 call alerted authorities to the emergency.
The Wachusett Regional Emergency Communications Center received the call at approximately 11:15 p.m. with no one speaking on the line.
Officer Joseph Cecchi responded to investigate and discovered the residence was on fire.
The homeowner was outside attempting to extinguish the flames when Cecchi arrived.
Cecchi immediately notified the communications center that the Princeton Fire Department was needed.
Officer Robert Sargood, who had just completed his shift, responded back to assist.
Retired Princeton Police Chief Charles Schmohl, who was in the area, also stopped to help until additional emergency personnel arrived.
The Princeton Fire Department responded and brought the fire under control before fully extinguishing it.
No one was injured in the incident.
