AMENIA, NY — A 54-year-old man died after his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with another car on South Amenia Road on June 8.
Scott Anderson, of Amenia, was driving a 1998 Porsche Carrera eastbound on South Amenia Road near Benson Road at approximately 4:50 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.
The Porsche entered the opposing lane of travel and was struck by a westbound 2020 Honda Pilot.
Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene.
The operator of the Honda was transported to Vassar Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The primary factor in the crash appears to be unsafe speed on the part of the Porsche, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
No charges have been filed.
