Man arrested on domestic assault charges in Island Pond

ISLAND POND, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a 43-year-old man on domestic assault charges following a late report of a family fight.

Police received a report at approximately 12:56 p.m. June 9 of a family fight that occurred in the early morning hours of May 21 at a residence on Railroad Street in the Village of Island Pond.

Investigation revealed Dwayne Calloway, 43, of Island Pond, attempted to cause serious bodily injury to a family member while in the presence of a minor, according to police.

Calloway was located shortly after in St. Johnsbury and taken into custody without incident by troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks.

Calloway was transported to the Vermont State Police Derby Barracks for processing.

He was charged with two counts of first degree aggravated domestic assault and committing an offense in the presence of a child.

Calloway was later ordered held without bail at Northern State Correctional Facility.
