Two inmates charged with assault in Oriskany

ORISKANY, NY — Two inmates at the Oneida County Correctional Facility have been charged with assault following an attack on another inmate, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol.

Road Patrol Deputies responded to the correctional facility on May 29, 2026, for an assault complaint.

Deputies interviewed the victim, who was also incarcerated at the facility.

The victim reported that two other inmates entered his cell during the afternoon hours of May 28, 2026, and attacked him.

The victim sustained a lower leg injury as a result of the physical altercation.

The victim sought treatment at Wynn Hospital and was later released and returned to the correctional facility.

The case was turned over to a member of the Criminal Investigation Unit for further investigation.

On June 8, 2026, Keith Westcott Jr., 42, of Rome, and Michael Mullin, 25, of Rome, were each charged with one count of assault in the second degree, a class D felony.

Both were turned back over to the correctional facility to await arraignment in CAP Court at a later time.

Both Westcott and Mullin were being held in the correctional facility on parole violations.
