Jeep towing boat strikes motorcycles on I-90 in Chili

CHILI, NY — State Police troopers assigned to SP Henrietta responded to a crash on the New York State Thruway westbound shortly before 3 p.m. June 6, 2026.

Willie George Jones, 85, of Niagara Falls, was operating a 2017 Jeep towing a boat in the right lane when he made an improper lane change, striking a 2021 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 2018 Harley Davidson motorcycle, both traveling in the left lanes.

Jones and his passenger, a 78-year-old woman, also of Niagara Falls, reported no injuries.

The driver of the 2021 Harley, a 57-year-old man, and his passenger, a 49-year-old woman, were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the 2018 Harley, a 58-year-old man, and his passenger, a 48-year-old woman, were also transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

All motorcyclists are from Michigan.

Jones was issued several tickets for vehicle and traffic law violations and is due in Chili Town Court on July 16, 2026.
