IRASBURG, VT — A Newport man was arrested early Saturday morning after state police clocked him driving nearly double the speed limit on U.S. Route 5.
Devon John, 23, of Newport, was observed traveling 92 mph in a posted 50 mph zone at approximately 1 a.m. June 6, according to police.
Troopers conducted a traffic stop and identified John as the operator of the vehicle.
John was cited for excessive speed and negligent operation.
He was ordered held at Northern State Correctional Facility on $500 bail.
