CHARLTON, NY — State Police arrested five motorists on drunken driving charges across several upstate New York communities over a seven-day period.
On May 26, 2026, at about 4:31 p.m., State Police from Saratoga responded to a one-car crash off Swaggertown Road in Charlton.
The driver was identified as Nickolaus Anschutz, 43, of Ballston Lake.
Anschutz was arrested for driving while intoxicated and other vehicle and traffic law violations.
He was transported to State Police Saratoga for processing where he recorded a 0.18% blood alcohol content.
Anschutz was issued tickets returnable to Charlton Town Court on July 9, 2026, and released.
On May 28, 2026, at about 6:22 p.m., State Police from Brunswick responded to The Crossway in Brunswick for a two-car collision.
One of the drivers was identified as John P. Barnes, 47, of Poestenkill.
Barnes was arrested for driving while intoxicated and other vehicle and traffic law violations.
While being taken into custody, Barnes was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
He was transported to State Police Brunswick for processing where he recorded a 0.20% blood alcohol content.
Barnes was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Brunswick Town Court on June 17, 2026, and released to a sober third party.
On May 31, 2026, at about 2:39 p.m., State Police from Clifton Park stopped a vehicle on State Route 9 in Clifton Park for a vehicle and traffic law violation.
The driver was identified as Mackenzie A. Cavotta, 38, of Halfmoon.
Cavotta was arrested for driving while intoxicated and other vehicle and traffic law violations.
She was transported to State Police Clifton Park for processing where she recorded a 0.28% blood alcohol content.
Cavotta was issued tickets returnable to Clifton Park Town Court on June 17, 2026, and released to a sober third party.
On June 1, 2026, at about 5:45 p.m., State Police from Schodack responded to a two-car collision on North Greenbush Road in North Greenbush with no injuries reported.
The at-fault driver was identified as Ethan D. Radley, 27, of Rensselaer.
Radley was arrested for driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree and other vehicle and traffic law violations.
He was transported to State Police Schodack for processing where he refused to provide a sample to determine the alcohol content of his blood.
Further investigation discovered Radley has had a previous DWI conviction in the last 10 years.
Radley was issued an appearance ticket returnable to North Greenbush Town Court on June 30, 2026, and released to a sober third party.
On June 2, 2026, at about 8:50 p.m., State Police from Mayfield received a report of an intoxicated driver in the area of West Main Street in Broadalbin.
Troopers located a vehicle matching the caller’s description stopped in the area of West Main Street and approached it due to vehicle and traffic law violations.
The driver was identified as Matthew C. Yerdon, 28, of Gloversville.
Yerdon was arrested for driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree and other vehicle and traffic law violations.
He was transported to State Police Mayfield where he provided a breath sample with a blood alcohol content of 0.18%.
Further investigation discovered Yerdon has had a previous DWI conviction in the last 10 years.
Yerdon was issued tickets returnable to Broadalbin Town Court on July 2, 2026, and released.
