Man arrested on sex charges in Sherburne

SHERBURNE, NY — New York State Police arrested a Sherburne man June 2, 2026, following an investigation into reports that underage victims were subjected to unwanted sexual contact while working with him.

Salvatore E. Magro, 36, of Sherburne, was taken into custody outside Joe and Vinny’s Pizzeria on North Main Street in the village of Sherburne.

The investigation by the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Sidney determined that over the last two years Magro engaged in a pattern of inappropriate sexual contact toward multiple teenage victims, which included unwanted touching while the victims were employed at the pizzeria.

Magro was charged with three counts of forcible touching, four counts of sexual misconduct and endangering the welfare of a child, all misdemeanors.

He was processed at State Police barracks in Norwich and transported to the Chenango County Jail for centralized arraignment.

The victims were issued orders of protection directing Magro to have no contact with them.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward.
