Police seek woman in larceny at Cortlandville store

CORTLANDVILLE, NY — New York State Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a woman suspected of stealing merchandise from a Marshall’s store.

The incident occurred March 25, 2026, at approximately 8:17 p.m. at the Marshall’s location on State Route 13.

A female suspect entered the store with a male companion, according to police.

The woman was wearing a black coat with fur trim on the hood, black leggings and a gray hat.

The male was wearing a brown coat, a green hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

A store employee observed the woman conceal several items of merchandise inside a Five Below shopping bag while inside the store.

The suspect purchased a package of men’s t-shirts but did not pay for the other merchandise, police said.

When confronted by a store employee, the woman denied taking any merchandise.

The employee recovered some of the items before the suspect left the store.

She was last seen walking toward Walmart before state troopers arrived.
